About the Program

The Fletcher Global Diplomacy Institute is a five-day, in-person executive program for mid-career and senior diplomats ready to sharpen their skills for a shifting world order. Through deep dives into geopolitics, security, global governance and cross-sector collaboration, you’ll strengthen your leadership, negotiation, communication and crisis management strategies.

Working alongside peers from around the world, you’ll apply these tools to pressing challenges—from sustainable development and migration to emerging technologies—while building a powerful transnational network. Spotlight on Global Challenges

There are myriad challenges emerging for diplomats. To help you navigate this evolving landscape, our expert-led workshops focus specifically on sustainable development, migration and humanitarian affairs, and technology and security.

  • Sustainable Development: Examine key international milestones and tensions in addressing sustainable development goals and climate agreements, develop a comprehensive framing of policy, and enhance skills of negotiation for working bilaterally, multilaterally, and with the private sector to build effective and resilient systems.
  • Migration and Humanitarian Affairs: Understand global migration flows and crises that lead to mass displacement, examine the range of national, regional and multilateral responses, and explore creative approaches to migration policies and solutions.
  • Technology and Security: Gain literacy in the rapidly transforming cybersecurity and AI landscape and examine how nations and regions are seeking to build regimes for technological advancement and equitable development, while mitigating the risks posed by new technologies.

This program is designed for mid-career and senior diplomacy professionals. We understand that the scope of diplomacy is growing beyond its traditional sphere, and we welcome career diplomats as well as professionals from international organizations. If you feel that this program is right for you, please apply and explain your situation in the application.

Global Diplomacy Institute offers approximately 25 hours of structured programming (including workshops, case studies, simulations, and site visits) as well as hospitality.
