About the Program
The Aso O. Tavitian Scholars Program was established in 1999 in cooperation with the Tavitian Foundation to provide a multidisciplinary Fletcher education to mid-career public servants in Armenia.
Each year, the program engages 16 scholars in a semester-long intensive training program in leadership and public policy hosted at The Fletcher School at Tufts University, just outside of Boston.
Below, please find a sample format from the Tavitian Scholars Program.
- The program is open to 16 qualified Armenian citizens with a minimum of five years of experience working on issues related to the Armenian public sector.
- No particular academic background is required, but individuals demonstrating an understanding of the subject matter will be given a preference in the selection process.
- Candidates should have strong English language skills as no interpretation will be provided. If you have not earned a university degree (undergraduate degree or graduate degree lasting two or more years) in which English was the language of instruction, you are required to take either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A score of 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL (IBT) (with sub-scores of 25 on each section) or 7 on the IELTS (with sub-scores of 7 on each section) is generally considered evidence of sufficient English language ability for graduate-level study at Fletcher. Students who have achieved C1/C2 proficiency on the Cambridge English Assessment can also have the English testing requirement waived. Contact tavitianprogram@tufts.edu for information on how to document your C1/C2 proficiency.
- All participants are required to return to Armenia upon completion of the program to serve in their professional capacity with the government for a minimum period of two years.
