My path to Fletcher
Working at a STEM focused multi-national corporation and with an engineering background, I lacked the business acumen of my peers who had already completed MBA programs. I was looking to have a better understanding of the why behind the business decisions we were making. My team was globally based, too, and I wanted to understand our cross-cultural business dealings. Additionally, I was able to attend Fletcher because of the online program. Living in Seattle, I could not have considered Tufts if not for the online program.
What sets Fletcher apart
The most appealing part of Fletcher was the global focus and context it provides. I reviewed more traditional MBA programs as well as MBA programs focused on Data Analytics. Fletcher was the only school that I felt was going to provide both a baseline understanding of business, finance, analytics, strategy, and have it steeped in a global context, whereas the other programs I looked at only offered one or two electives in international business.
On collaboration
Part of the benefit of earning a master's degree in business is the relationships you build and hence, the networking opportunities; I was concerned with the opportunities to accomplish either of these in an online program. However, I cannot say enough about the collaboration and teamwork of the Fletcher community. I have been blown away by the knowledge and talent of my peers. The immersion programs have allowed me to meet my peers in-person and spend a weekend in a more traditional classroom setting. Working with peers from the financial industry, entrepreneurs, sales and strategy professionals, members of the military and governmental organizations, I have made connections around the country. Bringing all these backgrounds together in class amplifies the diversity of thought and conversation.
