My path to Fletcher

In my quest for graduate education, I spoke to a few people for recommendations for a one-stop graduate school that can sharpen my skills and provide me with the know-how for my personal and professional ambitions. It was in one such conversation that a senior UN Official recommended The Fletcher School to me. After reading more and learning about the exploits of Fletcher alums across the world, I was very certain that Fletcher would be the best choice for me.

On a favorite class

My favorite classes have been "Climate Change and Clean Energy Policy," taught by Professor Kelly Sims Gallagher, and "Actors in Global Governance," taught by Professor Ian Johnstone. Both classes provided me with needed insights and a strong analytical foundation to support my career goals. I aspire to build a career in policy research to address real-world climate, energy, and environmental policy challenges facing developing and emerging economies. The combination of theoretical and practical aspects of policy issues, and the passion with which the professors delivered the material, ignited my zeal to make a positive impact in the world with my Fletcher education.

Most memorable experience

My most memorable experience at Fletcher occurred during orientation as a MALD admit. As the only student from Ghana in my cohort, I felt very excited when a fellow first-year student from the US, realizing I was from Ghana, walked up to me and introduced himself in my native Akan language. Not only was he conversant in Akan, but he also shared that the popular Ghanaian jollof rice was one of his favorite meals. He asked if I had figured out a Ghanaian restaurant in Medford that we could check out. This made me feel at home and continues to illustrate in my mind the much-cherished Fletcher community.
