Professor Thomas Qitong Cao will be assistant professor of technology policy at Fletcher. He studies the political economy of information and technology. His research focuses on the intricate relationship between information and political behavior in different institutional contexts, and explores its implications for technology policy. His work on U.S. sanctions on Chinese surveillance technology firms received the Society for Political Methodology Best Poster Award in Applications. Prior to his PhD in political economics at Stanford Graduate School of Business, Professor Cao received his B.A. in political science and M.S. in management science and engineering from Stanford University. He also received an M.Sc. from the Oxford Internet Institute. Professor Cao will join Fletcher in fall 2024.
Associate Professor Adam Kamradt-Scott will be Cummings Foundation Professor of One Health Diplomacy at Fletcher. Before entering academia, Professor Kamradt-Scott worked as a health professional in emergency care and clinical risk management, a political advisor, and a public servant in national pandemic preparedness. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Professor Kamradt-Scott served as an advisor to the World Bank on pandemic preparedness and also counseled the Australian government on its response and proposed changes to the International Health Regulations and Pandemic Agreement. He is the co-founder and convenor of the Global Health Security conferences and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Global Health Security Network, a multidisciplinary professional association dedicated to promoting evidence-based policies to improve health. Professor Kamradt-Scott will join Fletcher in fall 2024.
