Celebrate Fletcher Day

Fletcher Day, scheduled for Friday, October 27th, 2023, is a remarkable occasion that signifies the 90th anniversary of our very first day of classes in 1933. This momentous event provides a unique opportunity for Fletcher alumni, students, faculty, and staff to come together and celebrate our shared connections while exploring new ways to engage with our global Fletcher community.

Fletcher Day promises a wide array of engaging opportunities for participation, and we extend a warm invitation to you to join us in a manner that suits your interests and availability.

Live at Fletcher

Join Dean Gallagher and and Professor Sulmaan Khan for a live discussion in ASEAN at 9:00 a.m. EST, featuring Former Ambassador to China Winston Lord, F60, H87, and current Ambassador Nicholas Burns, both participating via Zoom. Following this engaging conversation, a reception in the Hall of Flags will offer coffee, a breakfast buffet, and mimosas to commemorate the start of Fletcher Day. Additionally, some special 90th Anniversary surprises will be unveiled in the Hall of Flags. This event is free, but we kindly request that you register here to ensure an accurate headcount.

Time Capsule Project

While at the reception, you'll have the chance to get a first look at our 90th Anniversary time capsule project. We welcome contributions from all Fletcher students, faculty, and staff between Fletcher Day and December 20, 2023. This time capsule will find its home in the Ginn Library, sealed with your contributions, to be opened in 50 years. It's our way of capturing this moment in our history to share with the future Fletcher community. To participate, visit the time capsule table in the Hall of Flags on Fletcher Day or drop off items at the admissions office.

Celebrate on Social Media

As The Fletcher School continues its incredible 90th Anniversary journey, we are excited to announce a global celebration on October 27th: "Around the World with Fletcher."

Here's how you can be part of the festivities:

  1. Embrace Your Swag: Dig into your Fletcher swag stash and don those shirts, hats, mugs, or anything that makes you feel connected to our extraordinary legacy.
  2. Capture the Moment: Strike a pose, capture a candid, or set up a scene that speaks to your unique Fletcher experience. The backdrop? Your corner of the world! Whether it's a bustling cityscape, tranquil countryside, or breathtaking coastline – let your surroundings tell your Fletcher story.
  3. Share and Tag: Post your photo on social media, tag Fletcher and email us at fletcheralum@tufts.edu. Your image will be a vibrant piece of our 24-hour global mosaic.
  4. The Countdown: On the big day, get ready for a whirlwind tour of Fletcher alumni pride! Every hour, we'll be sharing a new photo from a different part of the world, showcasing the incredible reach of our community. Together, we'll go “Around the World with Fletcher.”
  5. Connect and Inspire: Engage with fellow alumni by liking, sharing, and commenting on their posts. Reconnect, reminisce and discover the shared bonds that make Fletcher truly special.

Let's demonstrate to the world how our Fletcher community spans continents, cultures, and time zones, united by the pursuit of knowledge, diplomacy, and positive change.

Worldwide Celebrations

The Fletcher Day celebration is not confined to our campus. We have over 30 alumni clubs worldwide hosting events on October 27th! Each club has received a box of celebratory Fletcher Swag, and we can't wait to see photos of Fletcher pride from all corners of the globe.

We encourage you to wear your Fletcher hats, shirts, jackets, or simply don an orange outfit to immerse yourself in the spirit of the occasion. For complete details on the Club celebrations, please see below.
