Ambassador Lui Tuck Yew to Deliver Keynote Address at Fletcher School Convocation

F94 alumnus serves as Ambassador of Singapore to the United States

The Fletcher School is honored to announce that Ambassador Lui Tuck Yew (F94) will deliver the keynote address at this year’s Convocation. Appointed as Singapore’s Ambassador to the United States in June 2023, Ambassador Lui brings extensive experience in international relations and public service to this significant event.

Ambassador Lui's distinguished career includes serving as Singapore’s Ambassador to the People's Republic of China from 2019 to 2023 and Ambassador to Japan from 2017 to 2019. He also held key ministerial roles, including Minister for Transport (2011 to 2015), with concurrent responsibilities as Second Minister for Foreign Affairs (2011 to 2012) and Second Minister for Defense (2015). Earlier, he served as Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts (2009 to 2011).

Ambassador Lui served as Member of Parliament from 2006 until his retirement from politics in 2015. Prior to his political career, he served as Chief of Navy (1999 to 2003), CEO of the Maritime and Port Authority (2003 to 2005), and CEO of the Housing Development Board (2005 to 2006). His service has been recognized with several honors, including the Public Administration Medals (Bronze and Gold) and the Long Service Medal.

Ambassador Lui holds a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, and a Master of Arts in International Relations from Tufts University, earned in 1994.
