The annual London and Talloires Symposia bring together alumni, faculty, and global leaders for meaningful dialogue on international issues. The London Symposium, held in December 2025, featured an evening reception generously hosted by Eugenia A. Vandoros, A04, F10. The program included a panel discussion, “How Governments Are Shaping the Future of AI,” featuring Josephine Wolff, Professor of Cybersecurity Policy and Associate Dean for Research at Fletcher and recently named Alma G. and Merton B. Tarlow Endowed Professor of Technology and International Affairs, alongside Guillermo Christensen, Partner at K&L Gates, and Tony Curzon Price, Policy Advisor at Nesta. Together, they explored the evolving role governments are playing in shaping the trajectory of artificial intelligence and its implications for society.
The 25th edition of the Talloires Symposium, “Talloires @ 25: The Troubling Twenties,” focused on security in Asia, policy planning, and strategy. Tufts University President Sunil Kumar joined Fletcher faculty, including Dean Kelly Sims Gallagher, F00, FG03; Academic Dean Daniel Drezner; Kim Koo-Korea Foundation Professor in Korean Studies Professor Aram Hur; Professor David Logan; and Ambassador Christopher Hill. The symposium also welcomed prominent guest speakers, including:
- Farah Pandith, F95, H18, Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations; Muhammad Ali Global Peace Laureate at the Muhammad Ali Center
- Jeremy Shapiro, Research Director and Director, US Program at the European Council on Foreign Relations
Another highlight of the year was Fletcher’s partnership with the Asia Society in New York. The event featured Ambassador Winston Lord, F60, H87, a pivotal figure in U.S.-China diplomacy, who reflected on his remarkable career, including his involvement in the historic 1972 Nixon-Kissinger visit to China. Fletcher Academic Dean Daniel Drezner and Orville Schell, the Arthur Ross Vice President of the Center on U.S.-China Relations at the Asia Society, joined him onstage for a compelling discussion on history, power, and the future of this international relationship.
Fletcher also partnered with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C. to bring experts together around critical issues at the intersection of policy and security. The program, “The State of Civil-Military Relations in 2026 and Beyond,” featured Academic Dean Drezner in conversation with leading scholars and practitioners, including Saskia Brechenmacher, F16, Senior Fellow in Carnegie’s Democracy, Conflict, and Governance Program; Kori Schake, Director of Foreign and Defense Policy at the American Enterprise Institute; and Eliot A. Cohen, Arleigh Burke Chair in Strategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Dean Gallagher delivered opening remarks.
At a time when thoughtful, informed leadership is needed more than ever, Fletcher faculty are helping to guide important conversations across sectors, borders, and disciplines. Through their teaching, research, public engagement, strategic partnerships, and more, they are translating knowledge into action and ideas into impact.
