Bill Regan

William Regan spent his 33-year career at the Central Intelligence Agency, where he served as an analyst, manager, and executive leader. In the latter years of his career, he was the CIA's head of counterterrorism analysis and chief of analysis for the Afghanistan conflict. He also served as the senior reviewer for the President's Daily Brief. He knows the intersection of the intelligence and policy worlds, having briefed Cabinet officials, agency heads, combatant commanders, and senior foreign officials. He testified before Congressional intelligence committees, spent time in the State Department and the National Counterterrorism Center, and worked hand-in-glove with the National Security Council staff and his counterparts in the Department of Defense. He travelled extensively and served overseas, including to war zones. He received the Langer Award, the CIA's highest honor for the analytic profession; the "12 September" award for counterterrorism; and a Presidential Rank Award for his leadership as a senior executive.

Since his retirement from CIA, Regan has shared his knowledge of the intelligence profession with students at the Fletcher School, Middlebury College, and the University of Vermont. He serves as a Senior Fellow with the Center for Advanced Defense Studies in Washington, DC. In addition, he served on the boards of two non-profits, including as chair, and volunteered with several public interest organizations. He is a member of the Seattle World Affairs Council.
