Biography

What I learned at Fletcher
Learning to intertwine my personal, academic, and professional experience into a coherent message for myself and for others was something that my fellow students, my professors and staff at Fletcher helped me build. While several of my courses will always stand out in my memory, it was from my fellow students that I often learned how to put my education into action. As for the Fletcher "mafia," many people gave me time out of their busy professional and personal lives to share with me their journeys, give me advice on how I could market my skills and/or put me in contact with others. I did not and still think it prudent not to think of the network as a way to get a job, but it has given me great advice. Through the network, I have built a wonderful network of experts for the rest of my career.

An unexpected connection
I never expected to be a research assistant to a finance professor, but from the first day of Professor Warde's class my first semester, I found a professor who not only was an expert, but who genuinely invited me to ask questions and visit in office hours. While I only took one course with him, I helped him with his research for the rest of my time at Fletcher. In a career field that often focuses obsessively on "networking" and what your "interests" are, having a genuine academic and personal mentor — simply because we connected — was refreshing! I think this was truly possible due to the residential, full-time, and breadth requirements of Fletcher and for this I am very grateful.
