On choosing Fletcher
My first boss, first mentor, and first friend at my first job were all Fletcher MALD alumni. This showed me both the incredible community that Fletcher nurtures both here in Medford and out in the world, and a clear vision of the kind of work it's possible to do with a Fletcher degree. As the years passed, I spent time in the company of decision-makers and action-takers in my field of peace and conflict. Throughout this experience, I regularly saw how the people I respected respected Fletcher for its culture of reflective learning and quality field research. When the time came to apply to programs, Fletcher was the undisputed top of my list.
On a quintessential Fletcher moment
During orientation, a small group of us realized that we all had worked in (and fallen in love with) East Africa. What made that small group particularly exciting was how diverse our experiences were. Whether it was working in a local NGO, serving in the military, or volunteering with the Peace Corps, we quickly found common ground in our passions. From our short conversation, each of us learned something new about places and issues that are close to our hearts. I know that this combination of shared interests and new perspectives will continue to define my Fletcher experience.
