On the Fletcher Faculty

What's great about Fletcher is that there are many professors who are not only experts in their field, but experts in my exact academic interest. One of my favorite times in Fletcher is office hours with the faculty. The faculty are open-minded and easy to talk to. I enjoy going to office hours, where I consult with them not only about the classes I'm taking, but also my career interests, or really whatever is on my mind. I also appreciate that I have an academic advisor. To me, this represents how close the relationship between students and the faculty is.

On the MIB

All master's in international business (MIB) students are required to take a two-week pre-session during the summer right before the first semester. During the period, Professor Bhaskar Chakravorti, who is the dean of the MIB program, provided a course, "Strategic Management," where we learned what the strategy is. Throughout the course, Professor Chakravorti highlighted "Where to play?" "How to win?" and "How to sustain the win?." This framework provided a valuable suggestion for me regarding not only business, but also my career and life at Fletcher. There are a lot of exciting opportunities including academic sessions, student clubs and career events. However, it is almost impossible participate in all of them. We need to prioritize and choose what to do strategically. The dean's suggestion at the beginning of Fletcher life, has become my mantra and is an essential part of how I will plan my next two years at Fletcher!
