On the value of the dual-degree

When I was choosing among all the dual degrees offered by the University of St. Gallen, it quickly became evident that the one in partnership with The Fletcher School was by far the most compelling and suitable for my career interests. There was no doubt that the interdisciplinary and practice-oriented approach of the master of arts in law and diplomacy (MALD) would allow me to develop a profile, which is best suited for my long-term goal of working for the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland. My experiences at Fletcher have even surpassed these expectations. The expertise and accessibility of faculty members are unique. This uniqueness extends to the diversity of the cultural and professional backgrounds within the student network. The sense of community and collaboration among students is unequalled, be it in class, at one of the numerous amazing conferences or in non-academic settings.

On the classroom experience

An important asset of Fletcher is class size. Even the most widely attended courses feel very personal and participation is always encouraged. My favorite class is Global Political Economy: Macroeconomic Perspectives taught by Professor Daniel Drezner. The strong theoretical and historical foundations, systematically illustrated by current and telling examples, help students better understand the intricacies of today's international economic context. The quality of the entire faculty at Fletcher is without equal. Not only are they leading experts in their field, but some of the professors also play a prominent role in the public debates of international affairs.
