Why Fletcher
What attracted me to Fletcher was its community, curriculum, and resources. In particular, Fletcher encourages you to take an interdisciplinary, yet flexible, approach to any topic or issue. As a result, you get the opportunity to collaborate with faculty, fellow classmates, and even alums. Having spent seven years working in banking and private sector consulting, I strongly believed Fletcher would help me transition towards a career in financial sector development and financial inclusion. I decided to get involved with Professor Jenny Aker's team to prepare and run the Fletcher Leadership Program for Financial Inclusion (FLPFI). The FLPFI is a nine-month executive education program that targets policymakers from a variety of public institutions in developing and emerging markets, with the goal of providing policymakers with the necessary skills to design, implement, and evaluate sound and innovative financial inclusion policies. My involvement with FLPFI has helped me to identify areas that I need to continue cultivating, such as policy analysis and the development context of emerging markets. And this has helped me to define how I want to shape my curriculum and Fletcher experiences. Finally, the FLPFI allows me to interact with policymakers, and shape the way they think on designing, implementing, and evaluating financial inclusion policies for their countries.
On campus life
What I also enjoy about Fletcher is the diversity of student groups, each working on many activities (ranging from conferences to social festivals) to not only raise Fletcher's international profile with respect to many different topics, but also to enrich the student community.
