On the classroom experience

Being in a Fletcher classroom is like nothing I have ever experienced before. It is not unusual to be sitting in class next to a startup CEO, a military officer, an international lawyer, a diplomat, and a student who recently graduated from college. This might even be your study group for a course. Every face you see is an exciting world perspective, and all you need to get a glimpse at it is a smile and a cup of coffee. Before coming here, I thought the idea was merely romantic, but it is very real. The Fletcher community makes for a unique classroom experience. For example, my favorite class at Fletcher is The Informal Economy with Professor Kim Wilson. I have always worked in the informal sector, but I had never realized to what extent it affects the world economy and how important it is for us to understand as policymakers. My classmates come from the most varied backgrounds, and that makes for precious classroom discussions about realities in countries I had never paid attention to previously.

On the Office of Career Services

Fletcher sets you up to succeed. The Office of Career Services (OCS) is unbelievably effective in preparing us for the job market, even those of us who thought we had it all figured out! I was so glad to have professionals available to review my resume, practice with me for interviews, and teach me how to use LinkedIn properly. Before coming to Fletcher, I relied upon my friends to help me in my career search. Now, I have a dedicated office to support me—for life! I am so grateful that even after I leave Fletcher I will have this support.
