On the freedom to choose

"Fletcher has a lot to offer not only academically but also socially" is what I was told by several Fletcher alums I met prior to applying. In addition to the great things I heard from Alums, I chose Fletcher because of the diversity of classes offered, giving one the freedom to choose from a pool of interesting classes and create a combination of courses to develop the knowledge and skills that are necessary to achieve your professional goals. Now that I have settled on International Investment Law as my Field of Study, I have the resources to acquire these skills and great professors to guide and advise me on shaping my career. And needless to say, as home to students of diverse backgrounds from more than 30 countries, there's a lot to learn from each of my classmates.

On addressing global issues

I am doing the LLM with a concentration in International Investment Law. I am trying to understand legal framework for international investing, with an emphasis on treaty law, such as bilateral investment treaties, in addition to the laws, policies, and institutions influencing global investment in developing countries and emerging markets. I believe that investment law should not only favor economic growth but do so in an environmentally and socially conscious manner. Once we achieve that, we will be in the position to address the root causes of migration, human trafficking, and other socioeconomic problems facing the developing world.
