On the LLM Program
As a practicing attorney for the United States Navy for the last 11 years, I experienced firsthand how law is just one piece of a larger puzzle. The LLM program at Fletcher was ideal for me because of its interdisciplinary approach. I would have the opportunity to study with non-lawyers as well as take non-law classes to broaden my knowledge base, all of which goes to strengthening my ability to provide legal advice.
A favorite class
My favorite class so far is Professor Michael Glennon's Foreign Relations and National Security Law. It is a simulation-oriented seminar, in which we must work together to prepare arguments each week. I love the opportunity to collaborate with fellow students, fine-tuning our arguments to debate timely constitutional doctrines. Professor Glennon's depth of knowledge of the subject matter is impressive.
On student life
I have been most impressed by the quality of panelists and speakers that Fletcher brings in each week. There are myriad opportunities to hear from a wide array of practitioners that really augment the classroom experience. Early on this academic year, I attended the Fletcher Conference on International Law and Cyber Governance, an event that brought in some of the brightest minds in the cybersecurity law and policy field. I found the discussions thought-provoking and helpful in terms of how we as a country approach the cyber domain.
