My advice: ask questions!
I love Fletcher first and foremost for the creative drive that every single student possesses. We are all trying to be the out-of-the-box problem solvers the world needs. While I am trying to envision the "future of work" and how humans and AI can work side-by-side, another classmate is developing a plan to help organizations decrease their carbon footprint by better understanding their supply chain. We are all living our passion and aren't afraid to get into a conversation on a topic about which we’re clueless by asking questions (... and then more questions).
On the MIB
The MIB program at the Fletcher School is a perfect marriage of my background in business and my passion for international relations. In today's evolving geo-political environment, students need to know how to read an income statement and understand the social implications of the choice to create value. The world is more interconnected than ever before and we have to understand the nuances of how people interact and conduct business.
Going deep into your area of interest
The faculty members at The Fletcher School are the best in their field. My favorite class has been Professor Ebrahim's International Business Strategy. The class teaches students the basics of designing an international business strategy and then asks them to design an expansion strategy. Our team created an expansion for the Home Depot into India to take advantage of the growing DIY culture there. The class also helps students understand the core competencies of a firm and how such competencies might transfer to new markets. Professor Ebrahim's class encourages students to challenge traditional business strategy and equips them with the tools necessary to drive change and produce results for firms both at-home and abroad.
