On the classroom experience
After every class at Fletcher, I end up truly inspired by the lectures and discussions that take place. Not only is the faculty extremely knowledgeable, but they're also very dedicated to their students, enabling the class to explore its specific interests. One of my favorite classes is Gender Theory and Praxis, where we are learning to analyze various cultural, social, and political dynamics through the lens of gender. This has been an extremely eye-opening experience since all of my classmates come from different backgrounds and thus share very diverse views and opinions about gender. My Development Economics: Policy Analysis class has also been an incredible challenge. Before Fletcher, I was only familiar with basic macro and microeconomic theory. Seeing it play out and being challenged in the development field has been incredibly engaging.
How I learned about Fletcher
Before coming to Fletcher, I reached out to an alumnus that lived in Mexico City. Not only was he was kind enough to meet with me and address all of my questions and concerns, but he also introduced me to Mexico's "Fletcher mafia." I attended one of their get-togethers and witnessed how friendly and supportive they were to one another, and to me, a potential Fletcher student at the time. Despite being out of grad school, their level of interest and commitment to the field of international affairs seemed as strong as ever. This experience was one of the reasons I chose Fletcher: I knew it was a guarantee of having a network of extremely talented and devoted individuals.
