The Storm Before the Calm?
The hard-working staff here at Spoiler Alerts is very nervous about writing this column. When cable news starts throwing around international relations terms like “escalation dominance” and “audience costs” willy-nilly, I start to get nauseated. Theorizing about the likelihood of the onset of war is one thing; when it becomes a tangible possibility, maintaining the necessary amount of astringency becomes difficult. Also, there are so many ways the prediction in the next sentence could be wrong.
With all of that said, I am increasingly of the mind that the worst of the Iran crisis might be over.
