Book Talk with Professor Jeffrey Taliaferro

Ginn Library Reading Room
Friday, January 24, 2020, 2:30 – 4pm

In Defending Frenemies, Prof. Taliaferro presents a historical and comparative analysis of how successive US presidential administrations have employed inducements and coercive diplomacy toward Israel, Pakistan, South Korea, and Taiwan over nuclear proliferation.

Defending Frenemies is sharp examination of how regional power dynamics and US domestic politics have shaped the nonproliferation strategies the US has pursued toward vulnerable and often obstreperous allies.

Jeffrey W. Taliaferro is Associate Professor of Political Science at Tufts University. His research and teaching focus on security studies, international relations theory, international history and politics, US foreign policy, intelligence, and national security. He is the author of Balancing Risks: Great Power Intervention in the Periphery, which won the APSA Jervis and Schroeder Award for Best Book in International History and Politics
