Elana Givens is the director, Office of Career Services (OCS) at Fletcher. She is responsible for the general management and strategic direction of the office and oversees the primary functions of career education, counseling and employer relations. Prior to working at Fletcher, Elana led the career center at the graduate business school at Brandeis University preparing students for global careers in business, economics, and finance among the private, public and NGO sectors.

Elana moved to higher education following an established career in management consulting. In her work as Managing Partner, Twain Associates, Inc., she advised corporations from the U.S., Europe and Asia on their business strategies. She has extensive experience in many key areas including market and competitive analysis, new business analysis, product and customer profitability, sales and distribution, and acquisition analysis.

Elana serves on the Corporate Advisory Board of ALPFA Boston, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing Latinx leaders. She also served on the board of the MBA Career Services and Employer Alliance from 2012 – 2015 and held the position of vice president from 2014 – 2015. She was co-chair of the MBA CSEA's first Asian Conference in Singapore in 2014.

Elana earned her MS in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She earned her BA cum laude in Economics from Brandeis University.

Helen Anderson works part-time coaching students and alumni interested in the private sector. In addition to coaching students and alumni, Helen serves as a faculty and student club liaison and performs employer outreach. She also manages the Blakeley and Slawson Fellowship Programs, and teaches a section of the Professional Development Program.

Helen has been actively involved in supporting Fletcher students in their career management since she joined the school in 1992 as the director of internship programs. Before coming to Fletcher, Helen worked at a healthcare consulting firm in the Boston area. Previously, she worked for eight years at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, most recently as the administrator for medical affairs. Helen is currently on the board of Brigham and Women's / Faulkner Hospital. She also is a corporator at the Dedham Institution for Savings in Dedham, Massachusetts.

Helen received a BA from Cornell University and an MBA in health administration from Columbia University.

Lesley Theall

At Fletcher, Lesley coaches students and alumni who are interested in the public sector. She teaches one section of the Professional Development Program (PDP) and manages the following: The Rosenthal Fellowship, the Boren Fellowship, and the Presidential Management Fellowship (PMF). Additionally she manages the annual Washington, DC, Career Trip, helping students and alumni meet and exchange ideas in their chosen sectors.

Lesley joined the OCS team with a background in career coaching, international nonprofit and higher education program management. For 15 years she worked in degree programs management and career coaching at the Harvard Kennedy School and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Earlier in her career, Lesley ran the Boston Center for International Visitors (part of a USIA/State Department Program) and worked in the Foreign Fulbright Division of the International Institute of Education (IIE), advising MA/PhD foreign Fulbright students on their academic studies. In particular, Lesley enjoys developing students' public narratives, and their personal brand as well as encouraging them to continually expand their personal/professional networks.

Lesley received her M.P.A. from the Harvard Kennedy School, her BA in Spanish from the University of Vermont and a professional coaching certification from the Coaches Training Institute. She attended Middlebury College's Language Program in Intermediate Spanish and their Semester Abroad Program in Madrid. She is also trained in the Myers-Briggs MBTI certification.

Some of her hobbies include reading, cycling, pilates, cooking and being on the outer Cape as much as possible!

Kailey Whelan

Kailey comes to Fletcher from St. George’s University Medical School, where she spent four years in the Office of Career Guidance & Student Development assisting students in the process of obtaining postgraduate training positions. She is originally from Houston, Texas and obtained her degree in International Relations from SUNY Geneseo in upstate New York.

Her background in International Relations was inspired by her first job giving tours of NASA Johnson Space Center, where she had the opportunity to meet and interact with people from all over the world and has left her with a fascination with manned space flight history and politics. Outside of work Kailey loves cooking, reading, learning languages, and listening to true crime podcasts.
