Ellen Kramer I took these photographs in Yirol County, South Sudan, during the summer of 2001 while I was researching the importance of fishing on household food security to help determine appropriate interventions. This research came after completing the first of a three-year dual degree program with the School of Nutrition Science and Policy and Fletcher. In this combined degree, I focus on humanitarian assistance, especially relating to nutrition policy and livelihood strategies. My introduction to working with food security and livelihood strategies began while teaching fish farming in the rainforest of Cameroon with the Peace Corps. I then worked at the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC, first as a policy analyst and then as a press officer before deciding to redirect my career path towards working in the international nutrition field.
