Dr. Peter Radan is a Senior Lecturer in Law and Director of
Post-Graduate Programs at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.
He obtained his doctorate from the University of Sydney. Dr.
Radan's principal research interests lie in the areas of
self-determination, and secession, and state creation. His most
recent publication is The Break-up of Yugoslavia and International
Law (Routlege, 2002). This monograph's focus is on the
interplay of self-determination and uti possidetis juris in the
context of the secession of four republics of the former Yugoslavia.
Dr. Radan's study takes an international law
focus on the questions of the right to secession and the vexed question
of post-secession international borders. His current research is
focused on the same question from the perspective of constitutional law
in the context of the United States, the former Yugoslavia, and Canada.
