New Online
Initiatives and Services from the Office of Career Services
By Tamara Golden

The Office of Career Services (OCS) is ushering in the 2001-2002 academic year with several new initiatives and services targeted toward students and alumni. One of these is a completely revamped OCS website, complete with a new design, more user-friendly layout, and expanded and updated information for recruiters, students and alumni. Bigger still may be the introduction of a new online recruiting software program, eRecruiting, designed to encompass all of Fletcher’s on- and off-campus recruiting needs.

The changes to the OCS website were driven by a need to better serve not only students on campus, but also students in the Global Master of Arts distance learning program and the many Fletcher alumni worldwide. Moving to web-based information seemed to be the answer. OCS has therefore made numerous additions to what it provides online, including a detailed listing of helpful job search and organization URLs and a wide range of career skill-building guides. Innovative among its peers, Fletcher OCS is one of the few graduate international affairs career offices to currently cater online information specifically targeted at alumni. Feel free to visit the new OCS site at http://fletcher.tufts.edu/ocs.

Yet another useful online resource, eRecruiting will for the very first time consolidate all of Fletcher’s recruiting, mentoring, and reporting services into one complete software program. eRecruiting enables organizations to electronically post information and job opportunities, reaching students and alumni quickly and directly. Fletcher students, in turn, are able to submit resumes to apply for positions of interest and utilize eRecruiting as a job search resource. Alumni, for the first time, will be able to access postings for mid-level positions. The eRecruiting system also houses a more user-friendly and efficient Mentor database, which will be expanded this year to include Student Peer Mentors in addition to the traditional Alumni Mentors.

If you would like to establish an account on eRecruiting, please email us at fletcherocs@tufts.edu with your name and preferred non-Tufts email address. Please state in your email how you plan on making use of the system (job search, recruitment, or mentor program).
