Christian Westra

Christian Westra is a first year MALD student at the Fletcher School, where his fields of study are international law and security studies. Currently enrolled in a joint degree program with Boston College Law School, Christian holds a master’s degree in history with first-class distinction from the University of Cambridge and a bachelor of arts from Harvard College, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2001. For three years, Christian worked as a management consultant with the Monitor Group in New York, advising a range of Fortune 500 firms and multinational NGOs in the field of democracy promotion. More recently, Christian has worked as a freelance consultant to the Manhattan Institute’s Center for Policing Terrorism (CPT) and as a research assistant to former U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nancy Soderberg. Over the course of his work for CPT, Christian created a series of counter terrorism case studies for use in training law enforcement officers across the U.S. Christian has traveled widely in the developing world, including Africa, the Middle East and Siberia. Born and raised in Massachusetts, he has been awarded a certificate of recognition for his service to the United Way of Massachusetts Bay. Christian is a member of the Young Professionals Association of the Boston Public Library.
