Research Briefing Series

Launched in December 2006, the Jebsen Center's Research Briefing Series is an online periodical that features brief pieces by cutting-edge counter-terrorism experts, available on the Jebsen Center's website. The series aims to promote dialogue and new thinking on current issues in terrorism studies.

JCCTS Special Release: Intelligence Fusion Conference Summary Report
On October 16, 2007, the Jebsen Center for Counter-Terrorism Studies hosted a conference entitled “State and Regional Intelligence Fusion: Experiences and Best Practices in Interdisciplinary Collaboration.” A full summary report of the three panel discussions featured during the conference—exploring the current state of intelligence fusion among public and private entities; communications challenges in information-sharing operations; and domestic and international best practices—is now available as a Jebsen Center Special Release. JCCTS Special Release: Martin Murphy of the Corbett Centre for Maritime Studies Explores the Role of Public-Private Maritime Security Partnerships
As a panelist for the Jebsen Center's October 16, 2007 conference on "State and Regional Intelligence Fusion: Experiences and Best Practices in Interdisciplinary Collaboration," Martin Murphy, a research fellow at the Corbett Centre for Maritime Studies at Kings College London, contributed a working paper. Entitled "The Role of 'Public-Private Partnership' in Maritime Awareness and Security," the full paper is available for download here.

JCCTS Special Release: The Hon. Amedee Turner Compiles Western Muslim Opinions on Democracy
The Jebsen Center for Counter-Terrorism Studies is pleased to provide a study compiled by the Honorable Amedee Turner, Queen's Counsel and Honorary Member of European Parliament. The document, entitled "Muslim Grassroots in the West Discuss Democracy," was compiled with the objective to offer opinion-formers in the media, universities and politics, as well as mosques and churches, previously unavailable responses from the grassroots to questions relevant to an alleged “clash of civilizations” between Islam and the West.

JCCTS Special Release: Bruce Hoffman Chapter from Forthcoming McGraw-Hill Book, Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism The Jebsen Center for Counter-Terrorism Studies is pleased to provide an advance look at an article in the forthcoming book, Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism, edited by Jebsen Center Director BG (ret.) Russell D. Howard and Dr. James J.F. Forest of the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. The book will be published in early 2007 by McGraw-Hill.

In this excerpt—an original piece written exclusively for Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism—leading counter-terrorism expert Dr. Bruce Hoffman of Georgetown University’s Edmund A.
