Conflict Management Group (Cambridge, MA) An international nonprofit training and consulting organization that focuses on methods of negotiation, conflict resolution, process design, and cooperative decision-making. As of September 2004, CMG is a division of Mercy Corps, but still retains its offices in Cambridge.
Conflict Resolution Network (Canada) A broad-based conflict resolution organization that promotes negotiation, mediation, consensus building and peacemaking in schools, communities, government and internationally
Independent Projects Trust (IPT) A South African "training, facilitation, research and resource development organization which seeks to equip people with the skills to manage within a rapidly changing environment in which change is often accompanied by conflict." There is an extensive Who's Who in Conflict Resolution in South Africa.
Institute for International Mediation and Conflict Resolution (Washington, DC) IIMCR is a non-profit educational institute, that "puts dedicated students from all parts of the globe in direct contact with international leaders, policy makers and experts in negotiation and conflict resolution through seminars and symposia."
Institute of World Affairs Provides training programs, independent evaluations and design systems to aid in international conflict management and resolution. Note the International Conflict Initiatives Clearinghouse.

Mediate.com This is an excellent site dedicated solely to mediation. Among other things, it gives access to an international mediator database, training resources, mediator selection criteria, general information on what to expect from mediation and much more. Well designed and easy to navigate.
National Institute for Advanced Conflict Resolution was founded for the purpose of advancing the field of conflict resolution in the United States, and promoting a greater understanding of the role of mediation in resolving disputes.
Partners for Democratic Change This groups seeks to "advance a culture of conflict resolution in emerging democracies and market economies...It has been building an indigenous capacity to train government, nongovernment, ethnic-minority and business leaders in a broad range of conflict-management skills, including communication, negotiation, facilitation, conciliation, mediation, cooperative planning and problem-solving skills and processes." Specific interest in Eastern Europe.
Project on Negotiation at Harvard Law School (Harvard, MIT, and Tufts University) The consortium aims to improve the theory and practice of negotiation and dispute resolution. Research and publication titles, including the Negotiation Journal available from this site
RESOLVE Center for Environmental and Public Policy Dispute Resolution. This non-profit organization is focused on "specializing in environmental dispute resolution, environmental mediation, consensus building, facilitation, conflict resolution and policy dialogue." The site contains an "Ask a Mediator" section, datasets, full-text articles and papers on selected topics
Soros Foundation / Open Society Institute This group initiates, funds and supports many conflict-resolution-related initiatives and activities in Eastern Europe, ex-Soviet Union, and elsewhere and works to support open societies.
Transnational Foundation A small NGO working on applied peace research, conflict resolution, and global networking. Includes a comprehensive links page organized by topic
United States Institute of Peace This independent, non-partisan organization working to "strengthen the nation's capacity to promote the peaceful resolution of international conflict." Their ongoing research projects focus on Europe, the Korean Peninsula, the Balkans, the Middle East, and Asia
Women Waging Peace Supports the full participation of women in formal and informal peace processes around the world
Peacebuilding/Post-Conflict Reconstruction
Catholic Relief Services (CRS): Peacebuilding Program Focuses on societies on the edge of or recovering from violence and war. The program links emergency response and development with transforming conflict to help address social injustices before people see violence as their only option for change
Conflict Web Extensive information on conflict prevention, mitigation and response in Africa, from USAID.
Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy (IMTD) IMTD works to "promote a systems approach to peace building and to facilitate the transformation of deep-rooted social conflict." It has particular emphasis on transforming "conflict-habituated systems" into peaceful ones with country concentrations in Bosnia, Cuba, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Kenya, Liberia, Somalia and Tanzania. It also works with the World Bank and the Business Initiatives Program which attempts to incorporate the business sector into peace building.
Linking Complex Emergency Response and Transition Initiative (CERTI) This section of CERTI's website contains links to current publications, papers and articles on transition and post conflict reconstruction. CERTI is a conflict prevention and resolution program that provides conflict analysis and transition strategy assistance. Thematic areas include human security, health, civil-military dynamics, psychosocial aspects, and early warning/risk assessment

Center for the Study of Mind and Human Interaction (University of Virginia) Seeks to reduce ethnic tension and increase community building by focusing on the nexus between psychology and conflict. Examines group dynamics and the psychological processes underlying issues in the fields of psychoanalysis, mental health, diplomacy, history, law and political science. Information is still available on the website, although the center closed in September, 2005.
Conflict Research Consortium (University of Colorado) Provides a gateway to information leading to better methods of confronting and managing intractable conflicts. Topic areas include immigration, gender, refugees, injustice, environment, education and poverty
Consensus Building Institute (Cambridge, MA) Research and training organization focused on negotiation and consensus building
Initiative on Conflict Resolution & Ethnicity (INCORE) Research addresses ethnic, political and religious conflicts focusing primarily on post-conflict issues, issues of governance and diversity, and research methodology in violent societies
Institute for the Study of Conflict, Ideology and Policy (ISCIP) (Boston University) Focuses on conflict-prone populations in crisis, particularly Russia and other former Soviet republics. Research addresses political, ethnic and international destabilizing factors.
Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC) (University of California, San Diego) Concerned with the causes of ethnic and religious conflict. Research covers nonproliferation, environmental policy, globalization, e-commerce and the communications revolution. Founded by physicist Herbert F. York, a Manhattan Project participant and chancellor of UCSD
Minorities at Risk (MAR) (University of Maryland) A research project that monitors the status and conflicts of politically-active communal groups in the larger countries of the world. International Peace Research Institute (PRIO) (Oslo, Norway) Research concentrates on the causes of violent conflict and on building sustainable peace.

Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI) (University of Tampere, Finland) Focuses on disarmament, theories of war and peace, Finnish foreign and security policy, the Third World, the international system and development. In recent years much of the research has focused on the European political change, on the Baltic region and on the issue of Northern Dimension.
