Jobs, Internships & Fellowships

Employment Resources
Fletcher’s Office of Career Services (OCS) has some excellent resources for you to use as you start your job search. You can also sign up for Fletcher’s Environmental List Serve to keep up to date on inside job postings. To be added to this list, send a message to Mieke van der Wansem.

Job Search Guides
OCS has put together an industry guide for career opportunities in Environmental Policy/Program Management that has an extensive list of environment job search sites. Another relevant industry guide is for careers in Energy.  You can access these guides and other resources by logging into the OCS Intranet.

Don’t forget that OCS subscribes for full access to the website Eco Jobs. If you go to the index page, look for the link that says “Click Here” for subscribers in the upper right hand corner. It will ask you for a user name and password, both of which are updated monthly and available in the “Message from Your School” text box that appears when you login to eRecruiting.

You should also request an account before you leave Fletcher (either for your summer internship or for your next adventure!) on EcoLinkUp. This is Tufts' new online environmental collaboration tool. Here you can access job opportunities in the environmental field (both domestic and abroad), create work groups, connect with faculty, other students, and alumni who are matched to your interests (it's like a Friendster for our academic environmental community). Give it a try and request an account. Alumni are encouraged to join too!

Fellowships & Internships

Each summer, CIERP sponsors two MALD students to pursue an internship related to environment and/or resource issues. Please contact Mieke van der Wansem, CIERP Associate Director, for application instructions and deadlines.

CIERP students are encouraged to do an internship during the summer after their first year of study at Fletcher. The CIERP program works continuously to develop internship relationships with public, private and non-profit environmental organizations. Additionally, the CIERP office works with students to match their interests with an appropriate research, policy, and/or field experience. Many students draw from their internship to formulate the subject and proposal development of their MALD thesis.

UNFF-Netherlands Fellowship

CIERP is pleased to announce a new Fellowship for students interested in international forest issues: the UNFF-Netherlands Fellowship. It was established by the Netherlands Ministry of Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality (LNV) in honor of the work of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF). LNV will fund the Fletcher School’s Center for International Environment and Resource Policy (CIERP) with an annual grant of 25,000 Euro over the course of four years to support one or two Fletcher students who have a demonstrated interest in international forest issues. For more information please click here.

CIERP Alumni

As a CIERP alum, the Center hopes to help you in your job search and share resources useful to your work outside of the Fletcher community. If you have an item that you would like to share with other alums, please email it to Mieke van der Wansem and we can upload it to our website!
