The Fletcher Global Network
The geocentric perspective offered at the Fletcher School, coupled with
sound managerial expertise, flexibility, adaptation skills, and
cross-cultural fluency, has been successfully tested in the real world as
Fletcher alumni have become senior ranking professionals in globally
reaching organizations, such as multinational corporations, international
banks, and consulting firms [see inserts]. Since the late1970s, when a major
grant from the Exxon Education Foundation created the basis for today's
International Business Program, the Fletcher School has been
building on its commitment to providing a superb international business
education. In the succeeding two decades, research, teaching, and service in
the inter-national business field has drawn support from several leading
corporations and foundations, including IBM, the Xerox Foundation, Nippon
Oil, Atlantic Richfield, the General Electric Foundation, the Industrial
Bank of Japan, Koa Oil, Hitachi, and the Shell Companies Foundation.
Jointly founded and administered by Tufts and Harvard Universities, the
Fletcher School also gives a unique opportunity to students enrolled in the
International Business Program to cross-register at Harvard
Business School for up to 25 percent of their course work. This allows
students to complement their skills portfolio with expertise in such
specialized areas as venture capital, real estate, brand management,
information systems, advanced financial accounting, and capital markets. The
12 to 1 student-faculty ratio in the International Business Program fosters a dynamic and creative environment that encompasses research
projects, workshops, and guest speaker series. Student clubs in management
consulting and global finance further enhance the academic program.
The International Business Program offers a vibrant forum for a
dialogue between research associates and corporate professionals who come to
Fletcher. An advisory council made up of senior executives from major
multinational corporations provides a wealth of experience and advice to the
program's students. Students in the International Business Program
also gain invaluable practical experience through professional internships
at prestigious consulting firms, such as Applied Research Center (management
consultancy), or RISCorporation (financial engineering).
