Student Profiles

Michael Adenuga, GMAP04, United Kingdom

"It is difficult to state the impact of GMAP in a few words as it has been enormous both personally and professionally. When I applied for GMAP, I wanted a broad and multi disciplinary degree that would broaden my career opportunities within the UN system. Even prior to completing GMAP I saw results: I was able to change from working as an Investigator with the United Nations’ Office of Internal Oversight Services to working as an Attorney with the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.

GMAP provided a challenging and intellectually stimulating forum in which to interact and exchange ideas with people from diverse backgrounds, experiences and from a global community. On a personal level, it has fostered friendships and bonds all over the world. GMAP significantly broadened my experience and outlook and I was able to gain deeper knowledge and appreciation of issues like international trade, economics and finance which I was not familiar with as a criminal lawyer. The knowledge gained in subjects like leadership and management as well as international negotiation continue to be invaluable.

With the tools provided by GMAP, I have been able to distinguish myself professionally in my new job and was promoted in just over a year of taking up the job. Although the demands of the course were rigorous and time consuming, the time management skills and discipline acquired have also been enormously useful."
