9:00-10:15    Leadership in Action: Leading effectively in humanitarian operations. (Guest Lecturer. Margie Buchanan-Smith)

Buchanan-Smith will present her recent research on leadership in the humanitarian sector and will lead students is an interactive exercise focusing on current and common leadership issues.

10:40-12:00    Humanitarian principles and standards – guiding tools for more effective response (Walker and Koestler)
In this session we will explore the nature of Humanitarian Principals and the evolution of the various codes, standards and guidelines now used in humanitarian  assistance, along with the evolving mechanisms for aid coordination and the complex issue of accountability within the system.
