Cheyanne Church is an Lecturer in Human Security at The Fletcher School. She teaches Introduction to Evaluation of Peacebuilding & Development, Advanced Evaluation Concepts and a seminar on Corruption and Conflict . Cheyanne has been involved in peacebuilding research and practice around the world with specific geographic expertise in West Africa, the Balkans and Northern Ireland. She is currently the West Africa Liaison for the Reflecting on Peace Practice (RPP) project of Collaborative for Development Action (CDA) which seeks to improve the effectiveness of peace practice. In this role Cheyanne works with peacebuilding agencies in Liberia to improve the results of their programming. Finally she works as an independent consultant for a wide range of international agencies.
Prior to her role at Fletcher, she was the Director of Institutional Learning at Search for Common Ground (SFCG) where she led the organisation’s work to incorporate design, monitoring and evaluation into programming. SFCG aims to change the way the world deals with conflict and has offices in 16 countries. Before SFCG, Ms Church was the Director of Policy and Evaluation at INCORE in Northern Ireland, a research institute that seeks to blend policy and practice to find new answers to violent conflict. For the 7 past years, Ms Church has been involved in evaluations ‘in’ and ‘on’ conflict issues for a wide range of organisations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross and CARE International.
She has published on evaluation and conflict resolution, single identity work and policy impact on conflict issues. Her recent publications include Designing for Results, a practitioner focused manual on design, monitoring and evaluation for peacebuilding; NGOS at the Table: Strategies for Influencing Policy in Areas of Conflict which she co-edited with Professor Mari Fitzduff and Mind the Gap – Policy Development and Research on Conflict Issues. She is also a co-author of the study, What difference has peacebuilding made in Kosovo?, a look at the cumulative effects of peacebuilding programming in Kosovo.
