Susan Ringler
Former General Counsel for the Independent Inquiry into the UN Oil-for-Food Programme
Susan Ringler is Senior Counsel for International Compliance at ITT Corporation. Ms. Ringler is responsible for providing strategy and regulatory advice as well as oversight and supervision of ITT’s policies and programs involving compliance with US and foreign laws and regulations regarding anti-bribery, embargoes and sanctions, anti-boycott restrictions and other foreign trade compliance. From July 2004-April 2006, Ms. Ringler was General Counsel for the Independent Inquiry into the UN Oil-for-Food Programme. Previously, Ms. Ringler was a full-time consultant to the World Bank’s Department of Institutional Integrity where she was responsible for conducting complex internal and external investigations of allegations of fraud and corruption involving World Bank Group funds. From January - June 2004 she served as the Legal and Policy Officer for the department responsible for the formulation of its policies and best practices. Between March 2000 – 2002 Ms. Ringler was the Deputy Director of the ABA-CEELI Criminal Law Program, funded by the Department of Justice where she supervised the Program’s criminal justice reform programs in Russia and the former Soviet Republics. Between November 1998 and March, 2000, Ms. Ringler served as ABA/CEELI’s Criminal Law Liaison in Russia during which she developed and implemented numerous criminal law reform projects. From 1985-98 Ms. Ringler was a federal prosecutor with the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland concentrating on white collar investigations and prosecutions. Early in her career, Ms. Ringler was in private practice with Semmes, Bowen, and Semmes in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1980, she was a law clerk for the Honorable John F. McAuliffe in Maryland State Court. Ms. Ringler is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College. She received her J.D. degree from Catholic University Law School where she was on the Law Review.
