Elizabeth Hart is Senior Anticorruption Advisor in USAID's Office of Democracy and Governance, Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance. Her current portfolio includes developing and implementing USAID’s Anticorruption Strategy and corruption assessment methodology, donor coordination and implementation of international anticorruption agreements, extractive industry issues, and addressing the challenges of high-level and political corruption. From 1999 to 2003, she was Democracy and Governance Advisor for USAID/Nigeria. She previously worked with USAID on democracy and governance strategy development, linkages between economic growth and democracy, and civil society development. She has extensive international development experience in Africa, where she also researched government-business relations and stakeholder participation in economic reform. She has a B.A. in political science from Whitman College, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in politics from Princeton University.
