Diana Stockwell’s business interests have always been in the international realm, but Fletcher gave her the tools she needed to translate her interests into concrete professional skills. She explains that Fletcher students are “given skills like evaluation techniques, financial statement analysis, and strategic planning tools. But I believe what really differentiates the Fletcher degree is the emphasis on the context in which business decisions are made. Fletcher has a clear advantage in its ability to teach students how to assess and measure risk and identify opportunities in the international market.”

Stockwell spent her summer internship creating entry strategies for five different Latin American markets. “Obviously that's a tall order,” she explains, “but I thought the regions would be relatively similar. I found quickly that the regions are absolutely, undeniably different. The political, economic, and social landscapes change, if not every calendar year, then every election year. It’s about the context in which you are entering and the risks that go with that context, and that's what Fletcher has taught me.”
