The Fletcher School

A Graduate School of International Affairs

2008-09 Student Profiles

Francesco D’Agnese, MIB 2010, United States

On the classroom experience at Fletcher: "The professors here are constantly pushing us to think about issues in the broadest terms possible. It’s about considering the full range of stakeholders, the indirect consequences and the short- and long-term tradeoffs of every action. In an increasingly integrated world, even small decisions can have far-reaching effects. The classroom experience here at Fletcher gives you the capability to understand this complexity."

A quintessential Fletcher moment: "An international and inter-disciplinary perspective infuses every class at Fletcher, even one as straightforward as Accounting. During a recent lesson on payment terms, a classmate from the Middle East noted that transactions involving monarchies in the Gulf states require different treatment. This led to a discussion of international tax laws, political risk and even the role of the business sector in diplomacy. The breadth of knowledge of the professors and students that allows this kind of conversation to take place is truly astounding."
