In partnership with the London School of Economics (LSE), this research program explores patronage markets and hybrid political orders: how fragile and conflict-ridden countries really function in fragile and conflict-affected states. The Justice and Security Research Programme was launched in April 2011 at the LSE International Development Department. The consortium is funded by the UK Department for International Development for an initial period of one year, with the expectation of developing a full program of research through to March 2017. The research consortium is led by Mareike Schomerus in conjunction with Research Directors Tim Allen and Alex de Waal. The main JSRP webpage is hosted by the LSE.
Justice and Security: There is More Than One Truth. From January 23 - February 17, 2012, political cartoons that address issues of justice and security by JSRP partner VJ Movement were displayed in London at the LSE Atrium Gallery. This exhibition showcases a series of cartoons, provided by VJ Movement (VJM) in Amsterdam, that address issues of justice and security. The cartoons were selected in conjunction with Tjeerd Royaards, a Dutch editorial cartoonist who has been involved with VJ Movement since 2008, setting up a global network of professional editorial cartoonists.
