Where is the windows style interface?
  • On the login screen there are three user interface options:
    • Desktop
    • Content Editor
    • Page Editor
  • Select Desktop

Which browser should I use for Sitecore?
  • Currently supported web browsers include:
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and later
    • Mozilla Firefox 3.6 and later

Who should I contact if there is an issue with the live site?
  • Contact your school web representative

Who should I contact to request access to advanced Sitecore features such as forms, marketing, or analytics capabilities?

How do I apply for a Sitecore account?
  • There are several steps to gain access to the Sitecore system:
    • Identify an approver
    • Select a user role
    • Contact an approver
    • Enroll in training
    • Pass a certification test
    • Detailed information is available on the Request a Sitecore account page
Can I access Sitecore from home?
  • Yes, through the university VPN

Why do I continue to get an error message when I log in?
  • You may have entered the username/password information incorrectly,
  • Make sure “tufts\” is appended to the front of your user name.  Note the character is a “forward” slash.

Why am I not able to preview pages I've edited and have access to?
  • The URL should match the files you are trying to preview
  • For example, if you are logged into the MD authoring site, you won't be able to preview pages in the TUSM site
  • You must log into the TUSM authoring site to do that

Why can't I get back to the Content Tree after using the Media Library?
  • Use the back button or log out and back into the application
  • The recommended method is to use the tabs at the left-hand editor panel to toggle back and forth between the content tree and the media library

Where is the Media Library? I don’t see it in the left pane of the browser window.
  • At the bottom left of the window there are three link choices:
    • Content Editor
    • Media Library
    • Workbox

What should I do if I’m experiencing strange behavior within the browser?

For issue involving edits not saving correctly and unexpected behaviors such as the publishing wizard not displaying, or strange errors:

  • Restart the browser

Am I going to break something? What happens if I do?
  • There is a built-in safety feature in the form of Permission schemes which make it difficult to do something catastrophic, so feel free to use the site as instructed.
  • It is always good policy to be aware of certain areas while editing content:
    • Make sure not to click delete when your microsite is highlighted
    • Don't submit or approve items until you're ready for them to be live
    • If you're making major changes create a backup of original content.  If something does go wrong, contact your school web team.
