What was your favorite class at Fletcher and why? The course called "Legal and Institutional Aspects of International Trade" was my favorite, and also most difficult, class. The difficulty somehow shaped a kind of beauty that came from trying to consider how the WTO legal texts really work. The cases sometimes took surprising turns, turns that revealed the kind of drama that only comes when, in our increasingly globalizing world, economics, politics, and law dance at different tempos. Needless to say, as someone interested in trade in services, I was piqued to see that one of first major disputes taken to the WTO involved cultural trade between the U.S. and Canada, and how developing countries can reflect on that experience.

How I first learned about Fletcher: I first learned about Fletcher during my orientation at Juilliard when the school’s president, Joseph Polisi, a Fletcher alumnus from the MA program, was telling us about his education and background.  Later, I gained more information about Fletcher when I received a Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship from Juilliard. In the consortium of sixty-nine institutions, Fletcher was the first to receive the endowment for Young Leaders Fellowships from The Tokyo Foundation. Ever since then I was hooked.
