What brought you to Fletcher? I am interested in studying the challenges and opportunities facing U.S.-Africa relations. Africa’s growth and security directly impacts the United States. As an Ethiopian-American interested in the growth and security of the two regions, I want to study how the U.S.-Africa relations could reach its potential. Africa is dubbed the new frontier of growth because most of the fastest growing countries in the world are on the continent. Africa is also referred to as the new frontier of terrorism as terror organizations that are losing ground in the Middle East are relocating to the continent. The Fletcher curriculum is comprised of the relevant courses and outstanding faculty needed to understand this relation in depth. To that end, I am currently taking Conflicts in Africa, Economics, international Legal Order, and Statistical Analysis in order to better understand the multiple dimension of these relations.
On Fletcher’s Office of Career Services: The Office of Career Services has an impeccable track record and provides students with the necessary skills including resume writing, interviewing, and networking to help students secure internships. They’re also great about providing the feedback in group and individual settings that is needed to prepare for and succeed in professional life. The best part is that all of these services begin early on during your first semester through the Professional Development Program.
