Why the MIB: "I chose Fletcher specifically for the MIB program - it was exactly what I was looking for.  It combines the benefits of both a traditional masters program in international affairs with the finance and business skills you would find in an MBA.  In an increasingly global world, I think an understanding of the political, social and economic environment facing companies will be essential to success in the private sector.  With the MIB curriculum, I get to study all those things at once.  The nuts and bolts of finance are integrated from day one with the political implications for business."

Private sector, public benefit: "For emerging and frontier market economies, I think private sector investment from multinational corporations is one of the most effective ways to provide system-wide benefits such as jobs and knowledge transfers, benefits that can truly move these countries toward a “developed” status.  For this to happen, developing country governments need to have investment promotion strategies and expertise on how to earn the largest and most sustainable gains from such investments.  At the same time, multinationals need to understand the complexities and differences inherent in investing and operating in developing countries.  Together, companies and governments have the chance to create mutually beneficial arrangements.  I would like to leverage the expertise I gain here at Fletcher to structure these arrangements in order to make a meaningful contribution to international development."
