On Fletcher’s Fields of Study: What stood out to me the most when I was researching Fletcher's Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy program were the Fields of Study offered through its curriculum. Students must select two fields to concentrate their studies in, which provide them with the specific skills and knowledge necessary for their topics of interest. I was particularly drawn to the fact that I could choose to focus my studies on two areas, conflict resolution and security studies, rather than just one. There is also an opportunity to graduate with certificates in areas such as Human Security or Diplomatic Studies, which is another way to gain hard and soft skills on top of your main fields. Finally, there are number of excellent quantitative classes offered that will round out your academic profile. I plan to take Econometrics in the spring, which I have heard is not only a challenging course but is also taught by an excellent and supportive professor who really pushes you to work hard.

On the Fletcher community: I received my undergraduate degree from The University of Florida, which has a population of nearly 50,000 students. As a result, it was difficult for me to feel like my voice was being heard. That's why I was so surprised when I found out that The Fletcher School's Dean, Admiral James Stavridis, made himself so accessible to his students. During the first few weeks of my first year, I was lucky enough to sit down with the Dean over a cup of coffee and discuss his passion for the Fletcher community and his commitment to international affairs. I am also grateful to have such a responsive Student Council and Student Affairs office that truly listens to the student body and tries to support the students who want to make Fletcher a better school for future classes. I feel very fortunate that Fletcher has such a welcoming community who finds it important to foster strong relationships between students, faculty, and staff.
