On Fletcher’s Fields of Study: What stood out to me the most when I was researching Fletcher's Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy program were the Fields of Study offered through its curriculum. Students must select two fields to concentrate their studies in, which provide them with the specific skills and knowledge necessary for their topics of interest. I was particularly drawn to the fact that I could choose to focus my studies on two areas, conflict resolution and international organizations, rather than just one. There is also an opportunity to graduate with certificates in areas such as Human Security or Diplomatic Studies, which is another way to gain hard and soft skills on top of your main fields. Finally, there are number of excellent quantitative classes offered that will round out your academic profile. I am currently enrolled in Data Analysis and Statistical Methods with Professor Nakosteen, and I am surprised to say that statistics is currently my favorite class.

On the Fletcher community: I received my undergraduate degree from The University of Florida, which has a population of nearly 50,000 students. As a result, it was difficult for me to feel like my voice was being heard. That's why I was so surprised when I found out that The Fletcher School's Dean, Admiral James Stavridis, made himself so accessible to his students. During the first few weeks of my first year, I was lucky enough to sit down with the Dean over a cup of coffee and discuss his passion for the Fletcher community and his commitment to international affairs. I feel very fortunate that Fletcher has such a personable, down-to-earth, and intelligent Dean who finds it important to foster strong relationships with his students and faculty.
