On selecting a program: Having worked in capital markets, general corporate, M&A, dispute resolution and company law, I'd reached a point where I wanted to expand my legal training to matters of policy formulation. At the same time, I wasn't ready to divorce myself completely from the law: ideally, I was looking for a platform where I could explore the cusp between the two, using the juridical sciences as a base. Fletcher fitted that profile perfectly. The famous collegiality of the Fletcher mafia and the school's bucolic setting further drew me to it, over other possible choices trapped in cut-throat competition in the big city. I first applied for the MALD, later deciding to pursue my LLM and PhD as well. In many ways, Fletcher is unique, not least because the MALD is a one-of-its-kind degree, quite unparalleled in its amphibious features and generosity of outlook. Even compared to rival IR schools and policy programs, it appears to exist in an ecosystem of its own, well-insulated from the trappings of pedestrian 'professionalism,' and most importantly, committed to ideals and values that really matter. Yes, I'd heard that Fletcher is unreal, a bubble. I wanted that bubble.

On diversity at Fletcher: The diversity at Fletcher, other than being symbolic - mimicking a perfect world - brings with it a mindboggling marketplace of ideas, perspectives and conversation. I didn't realize how much one can learn just by talking to one's peers and friends. Perhaps, in the face of so much diversity, the representatives from each nation get further entrenched in their own culture, and as a result, the quaintest quirks, the most bizarre facts, the least known trivia across the world are showcased and amplified. Yet, what ties the community together is an innate sense of belonging - a happiness that comes from being at Fletcher, spilling into friendships that are special and deep. Frankly, I have become re-acquainted with the rest of the world by being here, and most of it hasn't been inside classrooms - everyone, every student has something great and wonderful to offer; each member of the community brings something unique that uncannily resonates with the rest.
