On the MIB program: I chose to attend Fletcher because of its unparalleled Master of International Business (MIB) program. Only at Fletcher can you simultaneously acquire the concrete skills of an MBA and study the full spectrum of issues that are inherent to conducting business in an international environment. In my experience, from consulting at Monitor Deloitte in DC to managing an $8M business in Addis Ababa, I have learned that having core business skills and an understanding of the local context are both equally important. Where better to learn these skills than at a world-class institution that has been teaching students to become world leaders longer than anyone else?

On the diversity of the community: Just as important as the academics at Fletcher is the opportunity to learn from a diverse set of individuals that are as interested in the international business environment as you are. For example, during a discussion of international consumer products markets, we were able to draw on the experience of classmates who had worked for Unilever in South Asia and P&G in Europe and Africa. In fact, my classmates are now one of my first sources of information when I am conducting research. The geographic and experiential diversity of the Fletcher community has proved to be very useful in class, and the network I have developed will be invaluable long after graduation.
