Why I chose Fletcher: I chose to come to Medford because Fletcher represents the nexus of theory and practice extremely well, and the school enjoys a well-earned sterling reputation. On one hand, my professional aspirations and current career progression will have me returning to Washington D.C. to continue my work in national-level strategy and policy formulation. But on the other hand, I felt that if I were to undertake a doctoral education, which had been and continues to be a lifelong ambition of mine, I would want to do so within a renowned program that is serious about theory. Fletcher is optimally balanced in both emphasis in theoretical underpinnings and practical orientation. Additionally, Fletcher assembles extremely qualified scholars, noteworthy practitioners, and talented students together in a very meaningful way, and toward the common purpose of advancing the field of international relations across its many dimensions.

What makes Fletcher different: The Fletcher School brings together talented people from different backgrounds, with wide-ranging experiences and perspectives, and it encourages meaningful, thought-provoking discourse among them. Clearly, this diversity is beneficial not only to the vibrancy and vitality of the school, but also to the promotion and strengthening of multidisciplinary approaches--and ultimately, to the advancement of the International Relations profession as a whole. Everyone here has a distinctively compelling story. Fletcher captures and celebrates these diverse individual stories, making the collective narrative of the school all the more impressive.
