Pamela Olvera, 2014, Mexico

Why I chose Fletcher: Fletcher was always one of my top choices for several reasons: its academic excellence, high quality of faculty, intellectual rigor, its sensibility to understand an international phenomenon as a multidimensional subject, and its renowned expertise in foreign policy. When comparing graduate school programs in international relations, it seemed like each program was pretty much the same except for The Fletcher School. Fletcher was the only graduate school that allowed me to combine different fields of study to pursue my academic interests. Moreover, with the small number of admitted students at Fletcher, there is a closer connection to the faculty members as well as continued feedback on your academic performance. Choosing Fletcher was definitely the best choice I could have made.

How Fletcher has broadened my global perspective: While I have always thought that political, social, and economic issues are not confined to borders, attending Fletcher has made it clear to me that the international system is more interconnected than ever. It is always exciting to exchange experiences and concerns in such a diverse community comprised of students with different backgrounds, beliefs, expertise, ideologies, and life experiences. This exposure definitely changes the way you look at the world. Thanks to Fletcher I have opened my mind to find the answers to issues that go beyond my country. I am convinced that no country is too far removed, that no issue is irrelevant, and that no voice is too loud when it comes to the Fletcher community.
