Why I chose Fletcher: I chose Fletcher because the school's Master of International Business degree offered the perfect blend of business and international affairs courses that I found lacking in the curricula of traditional MBA programs. One of the areas of interest that had brought me to graduate school was the rising importance of public-private partnerships in meeting the infrastructure needs of emerging markets. Fletcher offers me the opportunity to explore this interest by bolstering my core business analytical skills while framing it in a geopolitical context.
Something that has surprised me about Fletcher: The number of activities, both school-sponsored and student-run, that take place every day at Fletcher continues to amaze (and baffle) me. Finding a way to fit all of the class lectures, external speaker presentations, club meetings, career information sessions and social events into my schedule continues to be a daily struggle; but having to choose between a lecture on the Lessons of the Arab Spring and a luncheon with the CEO of Itaú Unibanco is certainly not a bad problem to have.
