Why I chose Fletcher:  I was convinced to apply to Fletcher because of a good friend who was at the time a first year MALD candidate. We were both at a UN Climate conference when he gave me a 10 minute sales pitch during which I was convinced. I have always been interested in environmental diplomacy, I just had no clue that such a program existed until I heard about it. Simultaneously, I happened to meet my current advisor at the climate negotiations and was invited to an event hosted by the Center for International Environment & Resource Policy which sealed the deal. I knew they were doing cutting edge practical research here, and this is the kind of academic environment I wanted.

On the diversity of the school: My favorite thing about Fletcher is that I'm able to dive into greater depth about environmental issues, but at the same time have discussions with people about the Israel-Palestine conflict, the partitioning of Sudan, military coups in Latin America and microfinance in Bangladesh. The diversity of interests and backgrounds in this place is mind-numbing. Every day I am reminded that I am in a global school and my classroom is filled with participants from across the world.
