Why I chose Fletcher: I chose Fletcher because it was an important key to unlock my dream. During college, the majority of my concerns on global humanitarian issues were not deeply covered, nor answered, in political science classes. College courses primarily dealt with, and were limited to, formal and traditional frames and theories. These frames and theories are fundamental tools needed to understand the full picture, but they lacked the interdisciplinary approach needed to tackle the increasing cross-border issues. I looked everywhere to find a program that would provide an interdisciplinary curriculum that satisfied my growing academic curiosity and would prepare me to pursue a professional career in the related field. I found Fletcher, and my time here has been great!
How I first learned about Fletcher: My first encounter with Fletcher was rather ordinary, but developed into a special relationship. A colleague at UNHCR was the first to recommend the School to me as he believed there was a possible connection between my passion and the curriculum at Fletcher. After further research, I realized my interest and future goals fit perfectly with Fletcher. Even before the application process, I seized the opportunity to visit Fletcher from South Korea, and it turned my life upside down. During the visit, I attended some classes and met great students from whom I learned so much about the School. Although it was a brief trip, I was convinced that Fletcher embraces diversity, openness and optimism to the current global issues. The moment I received the admission letter from Fletcher, I knew it was the right place for me.
